A workshop on energy transition and renewable energy in the Oil and Gas Sector was held yesterday, the 25th of December 2024, at Sarir Oil Operations (SOO) main office, upon request from the Renewable Energy Office at the Ministry of Oil and Gas. The session was chaired by SOO’s OMC member for Finance, Administration, and General Services, and was attended by the Renewable Energy Office Manager, the General Manager of Resources, and the Workforce Planning General Manager participating from the Ministry of Oil and Gas, along with a number of senior managers and specialists from Sarir Oil Operations.
The discussions covered several key topics, including the current state of the international renewable energy market and the integration of solar energy into oil fields. A range of projects approved by neighboring countries, as well as international renewable energy initiatives and the integration of solar energy into oil fields, were presented. The session concluded with a summary highlighting the key action steps required to achieve a successful energy transition within the Libyan oil sector.
